Together 4 Fremont is a group of like-minded educators who educate, advocate, and act around 4 core values: antiracism, inclusivity, equity, and access. T4F was founded in late May 2020, on the heels of the murder of George Floyd. National and local issues were coming together in such a way that many educators wanted to make a tangible difference. T4F provided opportunities to act around our shared values in a way that made an immediate impact. We advocated for a statement of values similar to our 4 core values to the Fremont Public Schools school board. We educated ourselves about antiracism through book studies. We acted by getting volunteers together to drive food to students who were unable to access the food that was being provided by the schools and the community. We had a lot of momentum and everyone, it seemed, wanted to find ways to help promote our 4 core values.

Now, a year later, it is time to re-imagine what Together 4 Fremont can be.

Educate — We will continue to provide content on our Facebook page such as Together Talks with individuals who can help us to become better advocates for antiracism, inclusivity, equity, and access.

Advocate — As local, state, or national issues arise, we can advocate for change that promotes our 4 values through our Facebook page. As needed, we can come together around issues to help advance our overall mission of promoting the 4 core values.

Act — Support local organizations like Kiwanis, the Lifehouse, the Multicultural Inclusion Council, and any of the many other groups connected with the Fremont Family Coalition. These groups all act around one or more of our core values.

The Shift — We served an important role in the community last year providing access to food through Feeding Fremont, providing assistance to students at FHS by helping with “The Hub.” We attempted to create a network to provide rides for students who were unable to access some extracurricular activities. This work was perfect for the moment, a time when access was at its most difficult due to the pandemic. T4F now shifts to its second stage.

We will still take action but now that action will be through other organizations. We will take our values and promote them in any group that we are a part of. We will continue to advocate and educate. Meetings will no longer be a part of Together 4 Fremont but calls for action will occur as needed. If you follow our Facebook page or simply believe in the values of T4F, you are a “T4F Advocate” which is our version of membership. There are no barriers to being an advocate, so share the actions you are taking with us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/T4FActs/.

It is exciting to see the work that has been done for our community. It is equally exciting to imagine the impact we can have in the future. T4F is an idea, an idea that we can help make our community a better place for the children we serve. We believe in doing the right thing, even when it's hard. We will make some minor shifts that will help keep Together 4 Fremont relevant as we move out of the pandemic and back to a more normal life. We look forward to continuing our important work for the community.
